Abate Apizza & Seafood Restaurant

Not a typical review as the style is not traditional. This is a Sicilian but well worth the review. It is also not a typical Sicilian. This is a New Haven Sicilian and it is one of kind. Special taste, light and fluffy. Fits right in on Wooster street where pizza is king

Extremely flavorful, perfect crust throughout! My favorite is the classic pepperoni.

Really good dough and cook. Decent cheese, but little soupy could use a little more sauce. Overall pretty good pizza

Floppy, greasy, bland. If you’re on Wooster St and the lines for Sally’s and Pepe’s are too long, you’re better off going to a different area than eating here.

Old fashion pizza, good baseline slice not disappointing not impressive

Surprisingly good, sharp pie with zero flop. The only minor knocks were that it was slightly on the cheesier side, and the sauce was not on the same standard as Sally’s/Pepe’s/Modern. Good local, non-commercialized scene, and I love the older, tough Italian ladies in there. As they repeatedly noted, this is zero relation to the Abate’s in East Orange.

Went there with my daughter and her friend on Saturday afternoon. Place was empty which was unusual. Pizza was nothing special even though we devoured the pie as we were starving. I did like the crispness but the overall feeling was that it had the look and feel, texture and taste of one of those Del Giorno like frozen pizzas. Other places like Sally’s and Pepe’s that are much better on the same street so will never go to Abate’s again.

This place doesn’t get the score they deserve. In my opinion, great sauce, crispy crust, overall delicious flavor. Right up there with Sally’s, Frank Pepe and Modern.

This is decent pizza. It looks pretty good, though not as good as the New Haven titans. Same with the taste. Good but not big leagues of New Haven. Had good crisp, sauce was fine, and a lot of cheese. There was something either in the sauce or cheese that gave it a distinctive taste, but I couldn’t put my finger on it.
