From what I could gather by their backstory, this was an Italian ice shop that bought a pizza oven and decided to make pies as well, hence: Fire & Ice. They use a wood-fired oven to make 12” personal pizzas that cook fairly quickly. Because they were small and relatively inexpensive, I ordered a plain cheese pie (pictured up top) and Margherita (below). Starting with the cheese pizza: it’s thin crust style, light, not much to it, basically a cracker with a synthetic cheese blend plastered on top, with virtually no sauce to be found. The burnt edges are decently crispy, but that’s the only quality aspect of the pie. The dough, cheese and what little sauce I could detect are all flavorless. If I was blindfolded I’m not sure I’d know I was eating pizza. I’m giving the plain cheese pie an abysmal 4.2 score. The Margherita wasn’t much better. The sauce was more plentiful, sweet and definitely more flavorful. But instead of using crushed red tomatoes, they scattered sliced tomatoes, like the kind you’d find on a sandwich, a total turnoff; this is “Medigan” pizza. The mozzarella is thin and scant, barely detectable. The dough was a little heavier, much softer and way more mushy than the plain cheese pie. While the overall taste was slightly better, the texture was worse, not worth trying. This score comes in a little higher with a 4.4 review, which averages out to a massively disappointing 4.3 overall rating. All of that being said, I did try one of their dessert pies, the “Busta Nut,” and it was incredibly delicious. But this app isn’t for rating dessert pizzas. So come here for their delectable desserts and I hope their Italian ice is great, but one thing I know for sure, their pizza ain’t.
