One of the better tavern pizzas in Chicago. Great taste, unique undercarriage. Slightly greasy but very crisp and well done. Great local spot

Fantastic tavern style pizza. Great undercarriage and crust . Ambiance on inside of restaurant was very cool with a storied history dating back to the 50’s. Will be back again shortly. Hidden gem that I never would have known about if it wasn’t for white Sox dave and el prez.

First off I’m livid I never knew about the place as I live 11 minutes away. I had to hear about it from Dave portnoy. The sauce on this baby is amazing! And they put the perfect amount of cheese. I love a little greese and this had the perfect amount! Crust has a nice little crisp and is almost flaky. Love this pizza and this will be my go to from here on out. Thank you white Sox Dave for making this place known.

Another pizza place for dinner while in the western suburbs of Chicago. Al’s Pizza has been going strong since 1959. $22 for 14 inch half pepperoni/half sausage. Had pretty good crisp for a heavier crust. Everything else was very good and the sauce was very tasty. Almost cracked an 8.

First off, White Sox Dave is smoking crack if he thinks this is a 10. It’s decent, but there are plenty places that do a Chicago thin crust much better. I ate inside at Al’s a few years back. It was good, but forgettable. The only thing I remember were the 5th degree burns to my mouth. I picked up another one recently and took it home (half cheese, half sausage). It was good but nothing really stood out. I thought the sauce had too much tang, and prefer a sweeter sauce. The crust was the best part of this pizza (cracker thin and crispy). Ok, so the pizza is fantastic and for that reason I will give it a 8.2, but if I was eating my experience I would give it a 2.0. This was my first time at this place. I arrived early, no big deal I was prepared to wait, they asked me my name so I could pay, again no problem, but here is where the experience went sideways. The young girl I was paying, who was VERY nice, double checking my order and I said no I only ordered one pizza not two. They then said that my wife called back and added a second pizza, and I said that was impossible, my wife didn’t even know I was ordering a pizza, which she didn’t. They guy cutting the pizzas who appeared to be in charge asked when did you call and I told him the time based on my phone. He then went to his phone to check caller ID, because he did not believe me that my wife didn’t call. He said well you are early you will need to wait, again no problem. About 15 minutes later another guy walked in and they had his order wrong and he said his wife called back and added a pizza, hhhhmmmm, told you it was not mine. No apology, nothing. The guy cutting the pizzas was rude to this person also, your people screwed up, not me or the other person. Finally when my time was up, meaning when they told me it would originally be ready he grabs a pizza that was sitting there waiting for almost 20 minutes, which is when I walked in, and says, here’s your pizza??? Why was it sitting there for 20 minutes and then why did he make me wait? Why did I not get one out of the oven? He basically made me wait because he didn’t believe me, and then when he was wrong he gave me an old pizza. So my score is based on the pizza only, but the guy cutting the pizzas , needs to learn so manners. Sadly the the pizza is good but I don’t know if I will ever go back again because of being basically called a liar, which I am definitely not. I still have there pizza a fair score.

This is how a pizza should be cooked. Well done with the cheese golden brown. Some of the absolute best in the Chicagoland area. The pizza has a very deep flavor to it. Very high quality cheese along with a fresh homemade sauce and dough. Put Al’s in the category of elite pizza. The sausage was also excellent.

A glorious shoutout to White Sox Dave for promoting this gem. The best thin crust in the Chicago area. Period. Perfect crisp on the crust, a flavorful cheese blend and a slightly sweet sauce make this the perfect pizza. And a family-owned, cash only joint, what’s not to like?

Good pizza. Lots of cheese, sauce is tasty. Only downside was crust wasn’t very crispy underneath. Much better than the last time I had it when it seemed to have to much seasoning.

Great pizza. You know it’s a good spot when they take cash only. Order well done and order more than enough for left overs. It tastes great the next day too.

Outstanding thin crust pizza. Phenomenal sauce. Great cheese. Good, slightly crispy crust. Plenty of high quality toppings. I highly recommend it.
