Pizza Review
Extremely thin, crisp crust. Very little New York flop. High quality sauce. Came to the table fresh out of the oven. Cheese was slightly greasy which is the only knock I can think of. It is a bar pie and can feed one or two people, but is more of an appetizer because of the size. Service is great, I would definitely recommend giving it a try.
Pizza Review
😴SLEEPER SPOT ALERT😴 Established back in 1962, this little hidden gem tucked away in a quiet Jersey Shore community has been in business for over 60 years, having changed ownership roughly 35 years ago & recently remodeled the inside. I fully expected more of a bar pie style but this is clearly a somewhat thinnish, traditional, large football pizza. They also serve smaller & thinner bar pies, which I will certainly try next time. With practically zero floppage, the undercarriage is sturdy & firm to go along with decent crisp & semolina seeds preventing sogginess. The dough has a fantastic consistency with a fresh, handmade taste as well as a terrifically crunchy crust of medium thickness. A deliciously creamy shredded mozzarella blend, the cheese tastes like it’s more than just mozz with a uniquely signature flavor that clearly stands out & separates itself from standard pizza cheese. Despite a melty, oozy & gooey flow, the cheese does contain a modest amount of grease. Though moderately thick, the mozzarella blend is well-balanced among the dough & sauce with a flavor that partially masks the taste of the sauce, working in tandem with the excess oil to produce a more savory than sweet pungency. Well-seasoned with mild tang & zip, the sauce is distinctively & refreshingly unique despite being slightly impeded by the abundance of grease & minimally overshadowed by the flavor of the cheese. Overall, this is a surprisingly solid pie, just a few tweaks away from travel-worthy territory. There is definitely potential to score in the 8s if they are able to crisp up the dough a notch, slightly sweeten the sauce & significantly dial back the oil flow. As it stands, this sleeper spot is a pearl in the oyster of Jersey Shore pizza.
