Angelo's Pizza and Sub Shop

Reviewed this place nearly 7 years ago back when it was "Angelo's". New ownership and called Stevie's now. Crushed a vodka slice & buffalo chicken. Definitely not bad - preferred the Buffalo.!Super nice guys in there, gave free zeppoles to the kids after the slices.

Very doughy and chewy

OK it’s review time. This time no mask! Thankfully they put an end to that bullshit. I’m at Angelo’s Pizza in Matawan. A little run of the mill spot in the shopping Center.. As for the pizza it was about as bland as the storefront is. Really not much to say. The crust was probably the best take away from the slice. It had a nice crisp to it. As for the cheese and the sauce I found it very bland. It all just kind of lacked flavor. Still not an absolutely terrible slice just very routine. 6.6 that’s a review

Plain slice - 7.5 fresh, 7.9 reheated - equals 7.7 A very cheesy and doughy pizza but sauce is good, wish a little more. Crispier when reheated in my oven, freshly came a little light and doughy. Grandma pizza with vodka sauce gets an 8.2 - the vodka sauce alone is a 9.0 but the cheese is ehh. Crispy and thinner than other grandmas with a nice sesame seed crust. Pepperoni pizza was their best. Tastes like Heaven, 8.7 for that. Well positioned pieces and had a nice kick to it. Super nice people there - gave us some free garlic knots - no apparent reason.

Quality pizza! Nice sauce, quality cheese and minimal flop. Overall good pizza!

Neighborhood classic, and it all starts with the family feel from the owner John. He will greet you as soon as you walk in the door and knows the whole family. Highly suggest the sausage pie which has been a staple for me since growing up, this is the drunken grandma pie. If you follow me you know I love vodka sauce and this pie was money!

pizza here is crazy good. been in matawan forever. must try slice. plain, chicken parm, margarita, and upsidedown sicilian.

Not much to slice. Wasnt a fan of the cheese. The sauce had a little tang but couldnt make much difference.

A local great on slice app no flop great crunch and sauce ok but cheese taste gets you with good flavoring. Would def come back

Grandma slice, served in the shop as a round slice, is very good. A little disappointed in the regular slice. 7.4 for grandma and 6.4 on regular. Owner, john, was a very nice guy. Very friendly and in business many years.

Good pizza, good crisp on the crust very little flop. Cheese to sauce ratio good. Service was great highly recommend

They make a good plain slice. Their winner is their Sicilian pie best around.

Nice pizza, great crisp. Cheese kinda just...there (not bad) but damn that sauce is poppin with some NICE flavor! Crust has nice crunch can’t ask for anything more on that. Small shop straight forward. Could easily stop here a couple times a week, a go to slice.
