Art of Pizza on State Street

Had both the thin crust and pan crust cheese pizzas. The pan was not bad, just not my style. Little doughy. The Thin crust felt a little bit like a tavern pie. It was also a little bit doughy and not super crispy. Great cheese and sauce, but the crust is a bit lacking for me. Overall, decent pizza but get the thin crust.

My first Art of Pizza encounter was 2 years ago with a slice of their classic cheese pie, and after smelling their delicious scents down the blocks for those years, I decided to return with a best friend visiting from out of town and was reminded of the classic art of Art of Pizza. Great size for your buck, filling, and flavorful, but way too much grease sitting on top of the pizza for my liking. The deep dish slice was soft and had the perfect ratio of sauce:cheese:crust. I’d keep Art of Pizza in the category of pizza places I’d return to every 2 years.

Flavor is okay, crust taste from frozen, no crisp at all…

A great deal for less than $5. A little doughy, but great flavor and the crust was very crunchy.

Had a nice seasoning to it but a little thick to be called thin. Also had their “pan” Art’s Special, which was equally slightly above mediocre. The tasty toppings saved an otherwise forgettable slice.

Just a little over $5 for this slice of pepperoni thin. Really liked the sauce and it’s a nice quality slice in downtown Chicago. Wish the crust was a little crispier (maybe in oven a little longer). Still a satisfying slice for lunch.

Decent thin crust pizza in Chicago. This would be in the regular pizza rotation if I lived nearby. Probably not worth driving more than 10 minutes for the pizza with all the other joints in the area

Good pizza should be hotter

Tried the thin as well as the pan and thin is definitely the way to go. Good taste but a little greasy IMHO. Friendly staff and as a bonus, pretty good mozzarella sticks!

Good ratio crust through to cheese!

It was messy but the sauce was way better than Lou’s or Giordano to me. I thoroughly enjoyed this!

Thick dough, very cheesy, great sauce to cheese ratio. Only complaint is the crust is too dry. Overall solid slice

One sausage and one Artie Special We both thought it could be cooked a little longer. Didn’t get carjacked so that was a plus

Fantastic sauce. Dare I say the best sauce I’ve ever had? Very crisp undercarriage and bowl on this pizza. Cheese it tasty and is packed with pepperoni. Have to go with the stuffed version, it has more soul. Very unique pizza, one of Chicagos best.

To start: Dave’s unboxings are always pitiful but this box does take some skill to open. Once you get to the pie, the stuffed is an upgraded Giordano’s. The sauce is the star - incredible flavor, filled with numerous spices. The cheese has a nice pull. The crust is buttery and thick but gets a little dry once you make it to the edge. Very yummy overall.

Art of pizza, the price is right, and I think it was a solid slice. 7.6 seems high in the hindsight. I would say upon further reflection, 7.3 is more accurate.

Picked this up and brought around the corner to my buddys apprtment/beer share… I actually like the slices plenty good. Nothing special, but a decent offering while drinking beers.

Maybe it’s on me for not getting deep dish, but as a pan pizza there’s little flavor and just thick cheese. Can taste very little sauce. Miss

This pizza shouldn’t be offered by the slice. Soggy, doughy. Really soft. Very little meat considered it’s called the “meaty.” Very likely much better if ordering a whole pie but I have no desire to come back.
