Nice crisp, sauce has a little sweetness too it. Great overall slice. I tried both a regular and pepperoni

With multiple locations scattered around NYC and out of state, this is technically “chain pizza.” But it’s more high end like Grimaldi’s than on par with the peasant pizza franchises like Domino’s or Little Caesars. With deliciously fresh ingredients, these pies aren’t cookie cutter like those basic chains. The sauce is the star here: terrifically sweet plum tomatoes with a nice mix of spices produces big flavor in each bite. The cheese is mostly mozzarella but a fantastic blend of other cheeses that’s wonderfully gooey and tasty. A nice sprinkle of Parmesan on top helps neutralize the sweetness of the sauce and enhances the flavor of the cheese. The dough is the one area that could use a slight improvement; while it has very good crisp, it’s a little too bland and loses points for lack of taste. The crust also is magnificently crispy but lacking in flavor as well. Overall, this is very good pizza; I feel like the multiple locations are a stigma preventing people from rating higher. This pie is much better than it’s getting credit for; but the truth is, the specialty pizzas here, like the vodka Sicilian and crab pie are even better. Come for the cheese pizza but stay for the specialty slices.

Artichoke Basille’s Pizza at 59 5th Ave in Brooklyn - this location doesn’t serve regular slices after a certain time, this is their rendition of a margherita slice. This slice has a lot of bag appeal, but unfortunately it’s appeal ends with the aesthetic sense. This slice is all over the place, and not in a good way. The crust is actually the stalest we’ve had thus far, and we came a far way to get here - with many poorly made pizzas along the way. This slice shop survives in an that I presume to be recently gentrified as a result of the relatively new Barclay Center - the name, in itself, probably attracts a lot of people who like pesto and arugula on their pizza (to each their own. There’s too much going on with the cheese and the crust is like soggy, stale, cardboard and styrofoam all came together to form a supergroup of disappointment. This is like the pizza that somebody tells you has cauliflower in the crust and expects you to be shocked about it

Flavor was good but the slice completely fell apart when I picked it up. The first bit was crunchy but the rest was soggy. Shame. Could have went i to the low 7s otherwise.

Good crust dough ratio. Too much cheese & a bit greasy. Couldnt go any higher.

Good sturdy crust but not too crunchy. Sauce to cheese ratio is a little high. Other than that a great slice.
