Pizza Review
Okay, this is longtime local spot born and bred in the south suburbs of Chicago. Been around since the 60’s and has been a Midwest chain for sometime. By far one of the most consistent chains there is when it comes to pizza restaurants. Pizza here is always top notch. This is based solely on the thin crust and is usually what I always get here. I do the Portage location ‘cause it’s close to home but I actually prefer the North Hammond spot just slightly more. This ‘za was chunk sausage (only option), roast beef and half hot giardiniera. The facts of the pizza: Sauce is some of the best I’ve ever had. Great tang and not too sweet. Very solid flavor. Crust is always good. It’s generally cooked on the softer side with a bit of chewiness but has great texture. Anything medium or bigger will be tavern cut. Cheese is standard mozzarella and always tastes fresh. Cooked well with practically no grease pooling at all. Sausage is also very solid in flavor. Additional ingredients are at your own discretion. I’ve actually been to several different locations but have never been to the original Homewood, IL, location. I will make it a point just to cover my bases since it’s really not too far from me anyway.
