Pizza Review
Aurelio’s is a classic. They’re known for their sweet sauce. I’ll admit, it isn’t for everyone. I can understand why some people don’t like it. Personally, I have to be in the mood for it and last night I was. I also wanted to show you guys that they do make a stuffed pizza, because they are known for their thin. I’m going to preface this by saying the ovens make the difference. If you’ve ever eaten at the original Homewood location, you know something about it tastes better. When I get back there, it’s a solid high 8. The thin crust is not crispy, but doesn’t flop either. The cheese can have a yellow appearance to it, but I’ve been told it is not cheddar and I won’t divulge what the secret cheese is. It does not stretch or become stringy with each bite. It separates for a clean bite. Yes, the sauce is sweet, but it’s offset by the saltiness of the cheese and toppings. Know this before you order it. Not sugary sweet, but noticeable. If you love pizza, you should be able to appreciate this unique trait. The stuffed pizza is surprisingly great. The braided crust is a nice touch. The dough isn’t crunchy, but soft and non-soggy. It’s a nice change from the other well-known stuffed pizza spot that starts with G. Overall, you owe it to yourself to try Aurelio’s as it is a chain that’s earned its spot as one of the best.
