Small cheese pie and an IPA, 7pm on a Thursday, can’t recall the price this time.. I let it cool down for a few minutes before jumping in and I think it was better for it because the first bite hit like punch in the mouth, straight up delicious - thin as hell pizza. I sat near someone very familiar with the pizza sizes and cut and the size small was recommended to me as has the triangle cut, resulting in a less floppy pie. Apparently Portnoy wasn’t given their best version, which hurt the big score. I found this pizza to be the second best in New Haven, having tried the big 5. I’ll have to visit again to confirm but BAR might crack my top 5 (out of 175 so far). Sally’s 1, Johnnys in Mt Vernon is 2. Kinchley’s NJ and Riko’s Stamford - maybe then Bar, for anyone keeping score at home

Paper thin crust with good form. Not a pizzeria, definitely a bar. Pizza had decent flavor.

Solid pie. Definitely the thinnest pie I have ever eaten. Very light football watching pizza.

This place was hopping! Get the mushroom pizza. Not as traditional as Wooster St apizza.

Paper thin cheese pizza. Cracker like crust with an unbelievable tomato sauce. Also the eggplant parm pizza is a must try for my fellow vegetarians stoolies. Feel like El Pres, as well as a lot of CT, cut Bar’s cheese pizza short. Don’t sleep on Bar!

I had heard amazing things about this pizza. People always put BAR right up there with Sally’s, Modern and Pepi’s. No way! The pizza was so thin it wasn’t even pizza to me. Way too thin, light cheese and the sauce had no distinguishing taste. Not what I expected. Disappointed.

Not entirely certain as to why Dave low-balled this score; first off, this was the coolest place I had ever been to. There were huge crowds of young people eating high-quality pizza and drinking beer in a spacious, lively, two-floor bar. Secondly, the pizza was phenomenal; perfect char on the crust and no grease. The only thing keeping this pie out of the nine-range was that the cheese was slightly unique but all in all, a must-visit and dining in is strongly recommended.

Very thin. There is a flop. But so, so good. Score speaks for itself.

Maybe it was because this was my fifth pizza place of the day, or maybe it was because bar is a step below the other New Haven options, but Bar didn't live up to the hype. I went with a large half cheese half pepperoni, and the pizza was absolutely gigantic but extremely thin. It had a nice crispy crust, but was way too thin for my liking. It also tasted much too strongly of Parmesan cheese. If thin crust is your style then you might give this a higher score than I did. They had a mashed potato specialty that it seemed that everyone was getting, so that might be worth looking into.
