There's a lot of hype around the old school pizza joints in New Haven, and you have to give them respect, but BAR is just turning out a superior pie. We hit Sally's, Pepe's, Modern, and BAR (all same day, in that order) and BAR just had the best tasting, crispiest, most consistent pizza. It wasn't even really close, and we were expecting this to kind of be the afterthought of the day - wrong. It's genuinely a great pizza.

Best pizza in New Haven!! White clam, brisket, mashed potato and of course plain cheese are all Off The Hook!!! Super thin, crispy crust, perfect cheese to sauce ratio, cheese and sauce both taste great. My favorite by far. Enjoy.

Cheese and a mashed potato with bacon were amazing. Thin crust allows flop but hey I can’t complain. Great service and atmosphere. Sat above the brick oven so we had a fantastic view of the pizza makers. Great place highly recommend!

Photo is the lobster pie, but I’m reviewing the cheese pie which was very good. Very thin, nice crunch to crust and overall very tasty. Definitely a unique style and one of the must try places in New Haven. The cheese pie over the lobster, especially considering the prices

BAR was fantastic. Far superior to Sally’s which changed owners, and slightly above Modern.
