Decent pie, I made a mistake somewhere along the way by ordering one without tomato sauce but I’m not so in love with tomato sauce on my pizza that I can’t enjoy an oil based one. I selected the “Monticello” which comes with mascarpone, mozzarella, feta and Parmesan cheeses with basil sprinkled on top. It had a rich buttery flavor that’s a bit unique in my experience. The basil gave a nice herb accent to the rich cheese flavor. It could definitely use a more salty component but I was really pleasantly surprised by the overall pizza. On the crust, it was alright, had a bit of a doughy flavor but it was cooked well and had a decent crunch. I would like to come back and try one with tomato sauce. On the location, very low key, corner pub kind of vibe, not pretentious at all. All in all, it’s not going to change your life but if you’re looking for a nice non-hipster joint to enjoy a beverage and a pie, this is as good a candidate that you’re likely to find in Charlottesville.
