Benvenuto's

Wish I could post more than one video, they're specialty slices all looked good. Just like at the second place. Benvenuto's I, the original. I definitely like this a bit better than II in Mohegan Lake. It's got a delicate chew to the crust and some air to it. Big, wide slice. Hard to capture on video. Nice brown bake. Bit better than average I'd say. Lacking for me was the sauce. No particularly strong flavor notes in it. Always love when I get a good amount. It's definitely straight from the can with minimal seasonings. I look for natural sweetness, acidity, and/or herbaceousness. Not found much here. It's really the crust and lack of oiliness that's good here. And that counts for something. If in Mahopac, I'd probably favor Cacciatori or Dante's for takeout/delivery. But this would easily get third place.

By far the best pizza in the area. A little to oily but, the crust levels it out. Would recommend.!

I am not sure how I first found this place but as we drive from Manhattan to the Berkshires we always stop here for pizza. Without a doubt this is some of the best pizza I have had. Everything I have ever had here is great, but I find the "showcase" slices in the front are the best things on the menu. I always change it up, but the margarita pizza and the plain slices are my favorites. But you can't go wrong. (And they aren’t even Italian!).
