Bird and Betty's

Somewhat new to the pizza game in LBI, Bird & Betty’s serves wood-fired, personal size, Neapolitan style pies. This is a classic case of pizza that does not travel well. The cardboard box is not a friend to this pie. Instead of a crispy, delicious pizza, you take home a soggy, chewy mess. It’s unfortunate because the sauce is pretty good, a little too strong on the basil though. The cheese looks like nice fresh mozzarella but the taste doesn’t quite match. Due to the takeout box, the dough was so rubbery, it actually hurt my jaw to chew. Despite a nice char on the crust, there was a total absence of crispness. I’m fairly confident this pie will be much better if you eat it on-site but I’m sorry to say I can’t recommend their takeout.
