I DO NOT typically eat "Sicilian"/square/Grandma slices, but the square at Bruno's has been one of my favorites for over 25 years. For those familiar with L&B Spumoni Gardens I'm Brooklyn, Bruno's square is in the same vein, though Bruno's features a superior combination of crisp undercarriage, delightfully light and spongy midsection, sauce brilliantly balanced between tangy, savory, sweet and aromatic, and a blend of cheeses applied in a proper ratio to the other components. They've been at the same location and run by the same folks since my childhood, and they've been delivering the same quality ever since. I feel so lucky to have such a solid institution in my hometown, and I'm more than willing to share this sublime little slice with the rest of the pizza loving community.
