Pizza Review
Pizza Review
Ok Frankie we don’t like looking up a place by ‘being the best in town’... but that’s how we arrived here at Buon Gusto located at 69 Wyndham St N in Guelph Ontario (pizza review time June 27th 6:30pm)...(not related to other Gustos we’ve Reviewed in the past) this is our first review in Guelph and we ordered a Pear Walnut Arugula Salad and the Zuppa di Pesce and the Calabrese Pizza, Bosciola Pizza and for the ‘one bite review’ we ordered the ‘Margarita Pizza’ here at BUON GUSTO RESTAURANT they are open for curbside pickup, takeout and delivery for lunch and dinner and their patio is now open for outdoor dining. The Patio Hours: Sunday-Thursday 11:30am-10pm, Friday-Saturday 11:30-11pm Takeout/Pickup Hours:12-9pm——> FYI During the spring, they construct their wood patio in the plaza of the restaurant. Trees and planters offer a bit of shade and seclusion for their patrons, but the patio is also open to enjoy the energy and events of the downtown streets. The patio is open daily, as long as the pleasant weather allows. Outdoor dining continues until 10pm. The patio is normally available on a first-come first-serve basis, and is perfect for a sunny business lunch or warm summer dinner —> to enjoy Italian cooking, recipes and traditions of previous generations. Every Italian family has its own and they are proud to bring you many of the dishes that they learned from their family kitchen, using fresh and seasonal ingredients and preparing them with love and simplicity @ Buon Gusto the Head Chef is Dave Manno .... and we have come to this quaint spot situated in the heart of downtown Guelph, in the historic Gummer building to try Chef Dave Manno’s Pizza from his wood oven in this beautiful stone building (sitting) over looking St. George’s Square, right in the centre of town. As a locally owned business, their community is important to them. Buon Gusto supports local food suppliers and providers. They cook heavily with genuine Italian ingredients to maintain the authenticity of their cuisine, however they feature drinks and ingredients from Guelph and Ontario producers whenever possible. They proudly support numerous local charities and events both large and small on an ongoing basis... Buon Gusto... one bite everyone knows the rules —> it’s a fancy pizza and their address is ‘69’ and most fancy Pizzas start around 6.9 but that’s a sexual number ‘and’ this is a kids show ... Sauce is sweet with a mild garlic kick ... undercarriage has no char (at all) and the dough bubbles were just beginning -> but the wood oven was not hot enough ... it did have flop but that’s expected from fancy pizza so we won’t deduct any points for that ... ( some would call it undercooked doughy Pizza Frankie - We wouldn’t - some would - We wouldn’t)... the crust has no crisp at all and we couldn’t even tear the slices apart easily (because it’s literally still dough 😐)—> we score them ... 1 to 10 —> one bite everyone knows the rules bite it / score it -> 1 thru 10 —->this pizza was rushed ... and though the ingredients are fresh it just suffered from being rushed... it was busy (and THAT was good to see) but this is comparable to a CAFE ORO DI NAPOLI type pizza from Toronto but when we got that pie it was cold and we gave it a 6.1 ... but it should’ve been a 7.1 ... so it’s hard to judge but this pizza is NOT a 6.7 nor is it as good as the Queen Margarita Pizza which we gave a 6.7 (btw) and this is not as good as a Good Fellas ... so all things taken and consideration (such as we review a lot of pizza) and we are honest as the day?is long & we never let them know we are coming -> and we try them so you don’t have to ... 6.3 (professional score) Buon Gusto Pizza ! Very good wood oven pizza ... good price ... right on time and a generous score but a fair score ... we only review basic cheese pizzas and in Buon Gusto’s case -> we reviewed the Margarita Pizza’ as that is their most basic pizza that they sell (but as a bonus review we will include the Pear Walnut Arugula Salad ... it was very good ... 8.7 on the salad and the Zuppa di Pesce was a 9.1... it was amazing and the Calabrese Pizza and Bosciola Pizza were also very good full flavoured pies , but the Margarita Pizza (which we base our score on) sadly could’ve been better ... all the ingredients were there—> but it was rushed and it honestly should NOT have gotten this 6.3 score ... but even more things taken into consideration —-> such as these other unprofessional reviews for Buon Gusto ... really only mulletboy’s score is accurate with the 6.9 (but that’s that address 😂) the other unprofessional high scores are possibly friends of the establishment (happens from time to time)........ 6.3 —-> that’s a review!
