Burgers + Pies

When pizza is listed as the 2nd item in the title of the joint, there’s a reason. This is basically ice rink snack shack pizza, very similar to the kind served at children’s birthday parties in arcades or bowling alleys. Super nice guys running the operation, but this is not a real pizzeria; they’re just cranking out snack food for the ice skaters & spectators and they’re plenty busy with orders. Sadly, the ingredients in the pizza are uniformly subpar. The sauce is basically seasoned ketchup: acidic, pasty and unappetizing. The cheese is of poor quality, the kind you’d find on commercial chain pizza. The dough, while fairly thin with a firm undercarriage, is a notch above a raised saltine cracker, leading to a tasteless crust that rivals the worst generic frozen pizza crust. The 9.4 rating on this app calling it “the best pizza in Darien” is either from a person who never had pizza before, an owner/employee or family/friend of the owner/employee because this might actually be the worst pizza in Darien. If you come skating here and stop for a bite to eat, get the burger & fries.
