Cafe Apizza

Very good but certainly not great. Was expecting New Haven and it certainly was not. 7.7 for the quality.

Solid pie. I was pumped that there was a place up here with a New Haven style, but it definitely had more chew and less crunch than expected. Still good, but I probably should have tempered my expectations a little more. I’d get it again.

As close as it gets to New Haven in Northeast PA!

Meatball and ricotta pie, almost speechless. My parents and I get it at least once a week. It gets better every time, the place is picturesque and the service is spectacular. The pizza, oh the pizza is off the charts. It is 100 percent New Haven style, I’d say it’s closer to Zuppardi’s than Frank Pepe’s or Sally’s but nonetheless definitely NH all the way!

Second time I’ve had this pizza, both times it was absolute fire!!! You can tell they let the dough ferment cause the taste and crisp are spectacular. Excellent char on the bottom, I see some bad reviews on here and I just don’t get it. This place is legit

I'm not sure how there are scores over 9. I know everyone has different tastes but honestly over 9? To me, you'd have to be comparing it to Dominos and probably never left this area to try real, authentic pizza. I'm not saying it's bad but does not deserve that score in my opinion. Get out of the area people and taste real pizza! First the cost is a little on the high side but I overlooked that hoping for a great pie. Called and placed my order. Was given a time for pick up. Got there. It was chaotic from the moment I walked in. It's not very big inside so when you have people waiting for their orders it gets crowded. I waited...10 minutes...15 mintues....30 minutes beyond my time I was told to be there. I stood because there is nowhere for people picking up orders to sit. Even after this, I held out hope for an amazing piece of heaven. Unfortunately, it was not worth the wait or money. Crust was chewy and not crispy. Sauce was okay. Would I go back? Maybe to give it another try and eat it there. But...definitely not a 9+ score.

Had the Margherita Apizza, it was phenomenal! The crust was crispy and charred and the pizza was sooo fresh!

$22 for a "New Haven" style 14" pie is a little over the top. This is definitely not New Haven but a genius way of marketing as it seems to be working...for now. Very crunchy, hard to chew, almost stale crust texture. Where is the char? Where is the coal oven? Not here. Don't believe the local hype as everyone seems to be riding Ah-Beets' train these days. There are better and cheaper in the wyoming valley.

Ok this is my first review in a while. I am rarely excited about trying a new pizza place here in NEPA but Cafe Apizza got my attention. As a fan of one bite and Dave Portnoy I am always hearing about New Haven pizza and when I found out there was a place within 8 miles of my home I got excited for this New Haven inspired pizza. Now to be completely fair I’ve never had this type of pizza. The one thing that stood out and took me back a bit was for one was the size compared to the price. This pizza was a 12” at most and was over $19 for a 1/2 topping. I wanted the New Haven experience so at first it didn’t bother me too much. Once I opened the box that’s when it hit me. This pizza was a medium sized pie at most. To be fair I can only compare this to almost every single pizza place in the area. The second thing that was the lack or lack of”char” hat we hear so much about. Now for the taste. I did like it. It was super crispy. The cheese was well cooked but and the dough was tough to chew. Lastly the sauce. It was ok but nothing special. Have a fresh taste but not too seasoned. If we are being honest there are better options in the Wilkes Barre Scranton area but it’s still worth a try in my opinion. Not bad but not great either. I give it a respectable 7..6 for the effort.
