First time visiting Cal’s Own since it’s move about 3 years back (dunno why it’s taken so long, I always enjoyed the Heaton location). Proudly a real Neapolitan spot sourcing certified ingredients making this as close to Naples as I’m likely to find in this city, maybe in this country...... Let’s see what you’ve got then Cal’s Own!! Ordered up a MARGHERITA DI BUFALA CAMPANA with all the DOP’s ticked, passing up on any of the wide range of optional extras. Wow........awesome. The flavour, the texture, the smell.......and that’s only the small piece of crust I dived into!! Delving deeper and on it goes........awesome!! The sauce is like nothing I’ve ever tasted, admittedly not an aficionado of the Neapolitan game, I’ve sampled most of the best that NYC has to offer and this is up there with anything I’ve ever eaten. The best? Dunno, it’s hard to pick the best when you’ve eaten some outstanding pizza, top 3? For sure.
