Pizza Review
This is about as close to New Haven style pizza as you will find without actually going to New Haven. A very large pie, divided into several slices, borderline long slender slivers, it’s rather floppy do to the length of each slice. The undercarriage isn’t very firm but has great char underneath, along with mega crispy & crunchy crust, reminiscent of New Haven’s finest. While the seeds underneath the pie help prevent moisture, it’s just not as crispy as I’d prefer, but still incredibly tasty. The sauce is no-nonsense with punch-you-in-the-face flavor! Tangy, sweet, zesty & zippy, the sauce is the standout star of the pizza. Even though the cheese leans more generic, it’s melted well with fine flavor, just a tad too greasy. Aside from the excess oil, the mozzarella blend is tasty, just not as flavorful as the sauce and dough. Overall, this extremely solid New Haven style football pizza, damn close to the real thing and outstanding for this area of Connecticut. The rating is really close between a 7.9 and 8.1 but the friendly service won me over and put the score over the top. This pizza is worth making a trip to try; and if New Haven didn’t exist, this is the type of pie everyone would be raving about.
