Pizza Review
You wouldn't think a pizza place of this caliber would be in a home Depot parking lot, but Caputo's deserves their high-ranking and best in Saratoga reputation. There cheese slice was New York style and was very reminiscent of Joes, with a nice crisp and fantastic flavor. The sauce was excellent as well. The highlight of my Saratoga Pizza trip was there garlic grandma style, which featured a garlic base and herbs top with cheese and a little bit of their red sauce. I had this slice at an 8.5, but my two friends both rated it at 8.9. This specific Pizza made fresh would easily be in the nines, as it had some of the best flavor I've ever had on any pizza in my life!
Pizza Review
I really wanna like this place but it's such a bio polar mess I just can't even give it "1more try" like I did last night. Ordered a large mushroom/sausage/pepperoni well done and an order of wings medium crispy. My kid picked it up and it was well...not good. It was as if the topping guy was on strike and refused to put anything on the pizza, the pizza guy couldn't read "well done" and 1/2 the pizza was almost well done and he forgot to maybe give it a 180 in the oven and the wings were reminiscent of my grandma's skin that hung under her bicep when she was 83 and had zero sauce on them. I decided to call and voice my concerns...I mean it's called Caputo's pizza. This is their wheelhouse. To their credit they did replace the order provided I return the uneaten food and they would deliver. 45 minutes and a hostage exchange later we got our replacement food. The wings were actually worse. I don't know how you f@*k up wings so epically but they've got it down to a science. Rubbery fleshy chewy skin w zero sauce. And this 1 is easy. Simply keep them in the fryer until they're actually crispy. C'mon guys. As for the pizza apparently the topping guy came off his strike and added a decent amount of toppings but the distribution of said toppings were lacking. Almost as if it was 1/2 mushroom, 1/2 sausage w pepperoni everywhere. As for the "well done" component you ask? Well we had a few darkened bubbles but the remainder of the crust was thick, doughy, chewy and just not good. Even the undercarriage was more like a pasty Irish kid mid summer than a well done pizza. The sauce remains uninspiring. I don't know how el prez aka portnoy gave this place an 8.1 unless he had a moment of weakness or he had a killer day at the track. Maybe a 1.8. Either way do your self a favor and head over to Nove or Gennaro's but not here. Ever.
