Caserta Pizzeria

Of the places I’ve been, this is my personal favorite in RI. It’s the sauce that makes it and the crust is always crispy.

Sauce tasted fresh, but didn’t have much of a taste to it.cheese didn’t have any kind of special taste to it. The crust was perfectly crisp but also had basically no taste to it. I wouldn’t call this bad but I also wouldn’t call good either

Great service. Pie was very good; crispy crust and great sauce.

The sauce really makes it for me. It’s a sweet sauce, but it works so well with their pizza!

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. I’d have probably gone over 8 if they cooked it well done like I ordered it, but you can’t have everything 🤣

I can understand why it is a local favorite. Simplicity defined, not quite Sicilian but good crisp crust and pretty sure just crushed tomatoes not a sauce— no garlic flavor and def no oregano. I will go back next time in Providence. We got there early Saturday evening before the crowds going to Providence Friars college hoops game. We also got mushroom and black olive pie which was also good . Interesting to note if u want meat toppings— all they have is pepperoni !

Finally got around to trying Casertas for the first time. Had it on the bucketlist for awhile. Pulled in around 12:30 on a Friday. Went with a pepperoni pizza. Okay amount of peppperoni. Cheese coverage was good Not too greasy. Sauce was good. Crust had some crunch. Pizza was pretty thick and virtually had no flop, which is great. Good undercarriage. I added some red flakes and some fresh parmesean. Having a parking lot in the area is a huge plus. Glad I finally gave them a try. Place has very limited toppings and would like to see them add a little variety. Maybe some cupping pepperoni, sausage, bacon or Italian meats.

Providence has some very diverse styles of pizza, particularly this rectangular pie from Caserta’s that appears to be a cheesy, thinner version of Sicilian pizza, like a non-traditional grandma style pie without the basil and garlic. The texture and taste is somewhat unique, very different from traditional round football pizza, more similar to a Greek style pie. The cheese is super thick and stringy, definitely gives off Greek style blend vibes. The sauce is splotchy atop the cheese but spread underneath as well. Sweet and tasty, the sauce certainly pops, bursting with flavor, easily the star of the pie, making up for the average-tasting dough and cheese. The dough is decently crispy, fluffy in the middle with a solidly firm undercarriage, along with a buttery crunchy crust, like a combo of Sicilian and Greek style crust. The thickness of the dough and cheese make this a rather heavy pie. Despite being an Italian restaurant, this really tastes like Greek pizza, only better. While not my preference, this is a quality “change of pace” pie, a break from standard football & Neapolitan style pizza. If you’re in Providence, this is certainly worth trying; but I’m not traveling long distances specifically for this pizza.

Solid crunch, great sauce and cheese. Love how the sauce goes to the end. No flop, bottom thicker than normal.

Got better with every bite! Very robust sauce. One pie fed the whole family. The sauce is the boss.

Very good! The crust is thick and fresh, the cheese is awesome, the sauce is amazing, you can’t go wrong here. I heard the stuffed spinach “Wimpy Skippy” is great so I’ll have to try that next time. Definitely stop here if you are in Providence!!!
