Pizza Review
Opened in 2016 under new ownership after some renovations, they feature “New York style,” classic, traditional round football pizza. Solid & simple, a straight fastball down the pipe, a true pizza’s pizza, this is well-above-average among plain cheese pies. Tasty & firm, the dough has zero flop with a sturdy undercarriage, minimal char and a very interestingly textured flaky & crispy crust that packs incredible crunch. Marvelously melty & creamy, the mozzarella has an outstanding lava-like flow with terrific taste & consistency, a high-quality shredded cheese blend. The sauce is rather subdued & mild-mannered, with a hint of sweetness & not much tang, the flavor hides in the background of the ingredients, noticeable but doesn’t quite punch through as much as I would like. Understated but enjoyable, there appears to be an issue with the volume of sauce; another ladle could really give it more of a presence & strengthen the fantastic flavor. Despite the lack of potency, the sauce melds really well with the dough & cheese, creating a tremendously tasty & reliable NY style Southern Connecticut football pizza. If the sauce shined a little brighter, the overall score could easily elevate into the 8s. Delicious as it stands, this is a quality Norwalk neighborhood pizzeria worth a try if you’re in the area.
