Pizza Review
I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and this place is still my favorite pizza. And I’ve had a lot of pizza. I travel form NJ to have this pizza. The crust is thin enough to be crispy on the outside but still thick enough to be fluffy on the inside. The sauce is the perfect balance of tangy and sweet. And the cheese is as good as it gets with a classic NY slice. And to top it off they always warm it up to the perfect temperature.
Pizza Review
Small, not noticeable place on Broadway that does pizza right. You go up to the register and order your slice and your first time there you won’t really know what to expect. When you get your slice one thing you’ll notice immediately is that for a “typical” NY slice it’s cooked perfectly. The crust is perfectly crispy to where there’s a crunch when you take each bite but not so much that the pizza splits into 2 when you fold it. You’d expect a big NY flop from the size of the slice but the crust really holds up well and there’s minimal flop at worst. The cheese is stringy and has great pull but doesn’t slide off the slice and leave you with a sloppy mess. The sauce has a great sweet/tangy combo that’s rare to find and is distributed among the slice exactly how it should. It’s also not one of those “typical” NY slices that seems as if it was marinated in oil before it was put on the plate. I personally do like a little oil but not to where it constantly drips off the slice and that’s how this slice is, just a little oil. I’ve always judged NY pizza partially by the quality of the sausage and pepperoni that’s used. So that being said I may be a little biased towards Como because they take amazing sausage links and hand slice them onto each slice and the pepperoni is the perfect size, taste, spice, and crispiness to complement the fresh, fennel taste of the sausage. I know, absurdly high score that’s hardly believable but for me I don’t need a fancy, Neapolitan, or brick oven slice, I LOVE a great NY slice that’s done the right way. Como is the spot!
