Crust is crispy but taste like marzo crackers, dry and no taste

Great pie. If you like thin and crunchy this is for you. I prefer a slight bit more thick with chew and crunch but this lives up to the hype

Had really high hopes going in. Great restaurant. Unfortunately the pizza wasn’t very good. Some slices were very greasy. Crust was terrible as you can see in the photo rock hard like a cracker. And the pizza itself was average at best. Overhyped

Crunchy, thin but not overly thin. Pepperoni cups is a must. Don’t expect anything fancy. Place is old school with a plain menu. Feels like a legion hall with a big bar. Hasn’t been updated in 50 years or more. Go for lunch to beat the weekend crowd

Cracker thin crust. To thin for my taste. Taste of crust is big zero. Sauce and cheese undeniably good however neither stands out as exceptional. Absolutely not worth travel. Might be best in Princeton but that’s not saying much. If memory serves they have TV to watch Giants, Commanders or Cowboys get crushed. Poor choice for children’s birthday parties since there is a bar with a weird atmosphere. Bonus review- veggie pizza with red peppers, garlic, onion, olives, anchovies = 7.9

Established in 1936 and serving pizzas since 1950, Conte’s is old school and one of the more historic pizzerias in NJ. Specializing in thin crust style, their small and medium pies are more bar pie-ish than their large pizzas. A lot of local love leads to strong scores and high hopes, especially seeing how many people are willing to travel for this pizza. The dough was shockingly floppy and super soft, leaving the slice limp when you pick it up. The undercarriage was completely covered in flour. Not sure if it was undercooked or just there to prevent moisture. The crust is also pasty white with excess flour, cracker-like with medium crisp. The sauce is pretty good, sweet, decent quantity, nothing special, could use more spices, but easily the best attribute of the pie. The cheese is middle of the road taste-wise, melted well, fairly standard. The slices are a little heavier than your typical thin crust bar pies, but I wouldn’t call this heavy pizza. I totally respect the history of this place but I’m afraid their pizza is a bit overrated by the locals, some travelers and Portnoy. Considering the wait is usually an hour or more, it’s decent pizza but not worth traveling for unless you just want to try it for yourself. I love my home state of NJ but my Central Jersey people have to try several pizzerias in Brooklyn before they decide where the best pizza resides.

Best pizza i have had in New Jersey so far. Very good and consistent. This could go up or down but right now I have been driving over 40 minutes just to come to this place

We watch this review once we got home, and my girlfriend things Portnoy is high giving this the rating of 8.9. The ambience was awesome, it was an old-school Italian social club type five. However the pizza just lacked in everything to us. If you live in Princeton, go to the University or whatever, great. However we would not put this in the category of “you must drive here”. A plain pie was $19, the medium pictured was about $15.65. We also got a small half pepperoni half sausage. Actually preferred the pepperoni and sausage pie, as the toppings weren’t restaurant supplier quality. They were really good. Just for Dave to have this listed two spots above Angelo’s Pizza in South Philly, is an absolute travesty. This place has indoor seating and the bar, so I guess that’s why it’s a little bit better. In the end we’d rather sit in our car eating Angelo’s pizza, then coming here again.

First off. I loved this place. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. Not many places like this left, old school classic that I would go to all the time if I lived in Princeton. As for the pizza. Very good. Solid. Had some flop and some grease but still very good. It didn’t make the 8’s for me but glad I stopped.
