Fantastic pizza. Wood fired ovens. Light, airy, crispy crust. Good amount of char and amazing undercarriage. Tried the Traditional Sauce & Mozzarella, and The 5th of May. Giving the edge to the Mozzarella. Good sauce, good cheese, phenomenal crust.

Delicious pizza. Great atmosphere inside the place. A little bit less crunchy, but the sauce was excellent.

We got the Traditional plain, Buttercup and a vegan pizza for my sister. Amazing Amazing Amazing. Literally one of the best plain pizza’s I’ve ever had. I loved the light dough - the cheeee and sauce were at a perfect ratio. Floppy but beautiful 🍕

This tasted like a frozen pizza to me. Decent char, but very floppy. Sauce tasted basic. Cheese was not high quality. Crust overall did not have great flavor besides the char.

This was The Honey Pot pizza. Great array of flavors in every bite. Sweet & savory in every bite. The bottom of the pizza was exquisitely, charred to perfection. Thin crust nice crunch

If you’re gonna get one of the artisan pizzas, do yourself a favor and grab a cheese too. Pizza is good but not knock your Sox off good 🤷‍♂️

I’m not a cheese pizza guy. Frankly, I find them boring and I suspect the people who enjoy them also find oatmeal too spicy. But Da Legna is a rare exception to my no cheese policy. The crust defies physics—it is somehow paper-thin, fluffy, and crispy. The sauce has a distinct acidic tang. The cheese has a slight layer of crunch while having a nice pull as you drag that initial bite away from your slice. The Honeypot is also just an incredible blend of spice, sweetness, and a heaping of meat.

Dave was off the mark giving this place a “New Haven scale” score, which as far as I know he has never adjusted the scale arbitrarily before. This is 8.5 pizza, minimum. Great wood fired crust and the speciality pizzas are insane. One of our go to’s.

Decent. Tasty crust and char, but a little thick and no real crisp. Sauce and cheese are good. It’s a cool place, but very expensive. This pie and a margarita pie were nearly $60. Not looking to repeat in light of the competition in the neighborhood, which is superior in every way.

In today’s matchup of classic vs fancy the clear winner was old school. Not at all a given with me. This pie was very light and flavorful especially the sauce and the stracciatella. The sour dough was not the same taste like Driftwood Oven in Pittsburgh. It was sort of a miss for me. Too “bready”. Maybe unfair that I had this right after Sally’s.

Why are people not talking about this place??? Everything about this margarita pie is perfection. Out of all the new haven places I’ve tried this is definitely up there with being one of the best places.

New Haven is filled with old world coal-fired pizzerias that have been around since the 1930s, but this is a modern establishment using wood-fired ovens instead. They advertise “artisanal pizzas” here, which is a fancy way of saying “handmade, without machinery.” The specialty pizzas look amazing, really great toppings and interesting combinations; but I reviewed the gold medal pie here, a regular cheese pizza. You’ll notice some big time char, borderline burnt crust, which is a trademark of wood-fired pies. However, the dough is actually softer and less crispy than the New Haven coal-fired pizzas, which must have something to do with how hot the oven gets with wood as opposed to coal. Very nice melt and consistency with the cheese, terrific creaminess & flavor. But the ingredients that bolsters the score the most is the super spunky sauce. Zip, zest, tang & bang, the sauce is the standout star of the pie. In fact, if Pepe’s, Modern or Zuppardi’s had this sauce, all of those pizzas would rate in the 9s. While the non-crispy charred dough drags the rating down a bit, the sauce makes this place worth a try. It’s a great date spot with a new school vibe and very solid pizza. I might have to try a specialty pie the next time I’m here.

Barbecue di Maiale pizza is insane. One of the best slices I’ve ever had. Defiantly a must have.
