Yes... that good.

I knew something was “off” after I picked up the pie, and my car did not smell like pizza on the way home. Looks were deceiving- it did not taste as good as it looked. It was bland and the mozz was cut too thinly, so it “baked into” the pizza, as opposed to a nice cheese pull after taking a bite. *Sigh* I was so disappointed overall.

This is the Jersey Shore’s version of Grimaldi’s pizza: coal-fired Margherita style pies; unfortunately, this tastes more like Grimaldi’s chain pizza than the original Brooklyn spot. Aesthetically, it looks like it’s going to be delicious but the ingredients pass the eye test and come up short in the taste department. Starting with the sauce, it’s lacking in both quantity & quality. It needs some zing or zip, it’s too light & slightly sweet but there’s definitely not enough on the pie to make a fair assessment of its flavor. The fresh mozzarella is easily the best component…creamy & tasty with great texture, it deserves a better supporting cast. In my experience, coal-fired ovens don’t get hot enough to produce crispy pizza. This is no exception. The smokey flavor and slight char aren’t enough to carry the super soft dough and chewy crust. The shredded basil classes up the pie but doesn’t add much other than colorful decoration. Spread on more sauce with a little extra pizzazz and find a way to make this pie crispier, then we can talk 8s; but as it is, this is decent local shore pizza that doesn’t live up to the hype and is not a destination spot by any means.

Tried the "Vinny" pie large. Crust was well cooked, doughy, not bad. Not much tomato 🍅 sauce. Pesto bland, but blended in well. The ingredients very fresh. The cheeses tasty and blended well. Needed some more salt for flavor. Overall a very fresh pie that was tasty. Nice outdoor seating. It was pretty good. Ill try a different pie next time.

Wasn’t as good as I was expecting, too little toppings and disappointing.

I liked it. The dough was light and fluffy, almost a Neapolitan feel. However, I didn’t think it was spectacular as some thought. The sauce was a little too sweet for me. Solid pie and would get again, but not one that sticks out in my mind as others have.

Very good pizza! Margherita pizza is not my favorite style but this is one of the better ones you’ll find. The pizza has a nice flavor, is made well done, and has a nice crisp. Also, Del Ponte’s has an amazing bakery attached to the restaurant.

It’s about time Prez visits this place, great crisp, light , airy with just the right tang in the sauce. Best Pizza spot he’s never visited in Jersey.

This is the best pizza on the Jersey Shore. My boyfriend and I come here at least once a week and have yet to try any other place that compares. The crust is light and fluffy, the sauce is delicious and the cheese is fresh. I highly recommend coming here, service and food is great

Tasty boy with quality ingredients, would of been in the 8s but a little too doughy for my taste buds

Not really the best. Sauce is sweet. But not a good sweet. I got the 4 cheese pizza, but it was pretty lackluster. The crust was pretty airy and slightly crispy, which was the only good thing about the pie

This is by far the best margarita pizza I’ve ever have eaten. Sweet sauce, fresh mozzarella cheese and the coal fired light crust. Highly recommended!

Del Ponte’s has become our #1 Jersey Shore pie. Yes, even better than Vic’s. Love love love the saucy approach, and delightfully light and tender crust. Yum!
