Pizza Review
Open for over a decade and evidently known for their “Dough Show,” which most notably appeared on an episode of America’s Funniest Videos. Easily one of the most unique pizzas I’ve ever tried; it’s somewhat fancy-looking but not remotely close to a premium pizza. The biggest issue with this pie is the ultra soft dough, like Charmin extra soft, mushy, floppy, soggy, unappealingly limp and completely void of crisp. The crust is equally mega soft, zero crunch, one of the least crispy pizzas I’ve ever had. The taste isn’t terrible but the texture is that of a pancake; not what I want at all from a pizza dough. The cheese is way too scant; so light and thin, you almost can’t see it. What little cheese there is on the pie has a tight & rigid texture, almost plastered on the dough with no creaminess or flow, lacking much taste from being completely consumed by the heavy amount of sauce. The flavor and quantity of the sauce overwhelms the entire pizza. Packed underneath the cheese and spread across the top of the pie, the sauce tastes like a Jersey tomato garden, almost as if a salad was mixed with Prego pasta sauce. This sauce is just too heavy and better suited for pasta than pizza. The 5.0 rating might look like a “rookie score,” but this is truly a “Middle-of-the-Road” pie and also a “Fork-in-the-Road” pizza, meaning, it could go either way. If you added some more cheese, balanced it out with the sauce and crisped this pie up times a thousand, there is enough flavor here to elevate this to a potential 7. But as it stands, without any adjustments, this is garbage pizza, just way too soft and mushy to be remotely appetizing.
