DiCarlo's Pizza - Wheeling

I get it, Portnoy. All you New Englander's think the only good pizza is in NY or New Haven or Boston. DiCarlo's Pizza is a cornerstone of the food history of the Wheeling/Steubenville area. Sure, not everyone prefers cold cheese, tray style, and not a myriad of toppings. But for those of us in the Ohio Valley, DiCarlo's is the best. When I interact with people who've moved away, they all mention DiCarlo's, Coleman's Fish, and Oglebay Park as what they miss most. Your review was actually a commercial for your event at the Arena and not a dedicated review of the pizza. You're entitled to your opinion, but to be critical of an expensive pizza (which serves 2-3 times the size crowd) or saying it's "coal miner's style" is disrespectful coming from you. What the £)€# do you know about miners?

Pizza itself is fine, I like the crunchy crust and the sauce is pretty good. Not a big fan of provolone cheese over mozzarella. Still tastes ok

One of the innovators of my (biased) favorite pizza style: Ohio Valley. The best part was the sauce. Perfect amount of sweetness! The crust was a little cracker-like but a staple for the style!!!

Crust is Good. They make a pizza like it’s the year 1867 but it was actually decent. Gotta try it if you are close by. Definitely unique

I always thought the city of Wheeling looked nice to drive by so I decided to check it out. I chose the right day because there was a free outside concert at the park with food trucks. I didn’t get any food from there because I was on a mission to try this highly regarded square pizza. The hype sometimes doesn’t live up to it with these kind of pizzas, but this one does. The crisp was in every bite and the sauce was excellent and well spread. I don’t get super excited about the cold cheese like most but it was still good. Overall a great pizza worth traveling for.

This is my favorite DiCarlo’s Pizza. Maybe even my favorite pizza! I prefer when the cheese isn’t so melted but the sauce is the bees knees!
