Pizza Review
This was our third attempt at trying to like this place. The previous two times having tried this pizza we took home but we decided that it might be better to eat in person. Unfortunately we were very disappointed again. This was by far the worst of the three attempts. The crust (undercarriage) was extremely floppy and seemed undercooked or not cook at all. The bottom of the pie was very doughy and greasy. All of the topping fell off when picking a slice which made for a complete mess and the grease!!!! There was so much grease. I ended up picking through the pizza and eating only the crust and some of the fallen toppings. The sauce and cheese was tasty along with the outside crust which had a good crunch but that’s where the positives for this pizza stopped. We won’t be going back after our third failed attempt to enjoy the pizza at this location.
Pizza Review
Ok, time for another Pizza review. I'm here at Dough Box on Main St. W. across from McMaster University. Looks like it's only been open for a few weeks. It already had dozens of wildly high reviews on Google. I thought I'd give it a whirl. The pizza is made right in front of you, kind of feels like Subway or Harveys assembly line style. Many options. I counted and five different people touched my pizza. Good crunch, a little char from the wood fired oven. The sauce is bland, really bland. So are the toppings. I feel like I'm eating air. I didn't know you could make tomatoes and cheese so tasteless. Not good. Not terrible but not good. I don't understand how people are loving this on Google. Maybe the way to go is to put five million toppings on it until it tastes good. No thank you. 4.2 - Honestly, I think this is one of the worst pizzas i've had and I really wanted to like this place. Bonus review: I had the spaghetti and meatball. Pasta is nice and Al dente but also so bland! The meatballs are not terrible but they're not good either. 5.6 for the spaghetti and meatballs. This is a concept place. It's like fast food pizza and trying to be gourmet. It's not fast and it's not gourmet. Good family environment and I got a medium sized pizza and a big bowl of pasta for $20. Not bad value. I would go here over Boston Pizza but that's not saying much. p.s. If you have five university kids making my pizza and it's still low cost....what are you spending on your ingredients and how are you paying off the fortune you spent on the signage and decor? Makes me nervous. Again, I wanted to like this place. Not good. That's a review.
