Aesthetically, I thought this pie looked pretty good…the cheese is oozy and melty and the crust has a crispy appearance. Sadly, this pizza is not crispy whatsoever; in fact, the dough is as soft and mushy as I’ve ever seen on a pie. First of all, they only offer whole wheat dough, which I don’t hate but I definitely don’t prefer. This type of dough should be an option, not the only choice. Shockingly, the dough and crust meld together with the same mega soft texture; there’s no differential in crispness like standard pizza with crust. The cheese is actually an interesting blend, with a sharp flavor and creamy texture, easily the best ingredient of the pie. The sauce is not sweet, more dull than anything, with splotches atop the cheese and layered underneath as well. This is actually a well-constructed, well-intentioned pizza, with fantastic thinness and balance among the dough, cheese & sauce; but the execution is poor. Not sure why, but the overall taste is off, most likely because of the whole wheat dough, combined with the unspectacular sauce, along with the overpowering potency of the cheese. Not particularly pleasant tastes to coincide with severely undercooked crispless dough makes this pie difficult to recommend. If you like soft whole wheat pizza, give it a try; but this just isn’t my style.
