Fortel's Pizza Den

First thing to know is this is NOT St. Louis style pizza. If you are looking for a style comparison I would liken it most to Chicago bar pie, but then again something I love about it Fortels is very much its own thing. The primary cheese used at Fortels is Mozzerlla, like the gods intended, but pictured above and my personal favorite order is the “Cheese, Cheese, Cheese” specialty. I have had the standard cheese though on many occasions, and it is fantastic also. The crust is thicker/sturdier than Stl cracker crust, again more like a Chicago bar pie, the sauce is fantastic, slightly sweet but complex and well spiced, and extremely flavorful. This sauce paired with the salty combination of the “cheese, cheese, cheese” creates a wonderful salty, sweet, complex savory treat. While La Pizza is the best “east coast” attempt at pizza in St. Louis, this is the BEST pizza in St. Louis, in my opinion.
