Had the original tomato pie and the famous white clam. Turns out I don’t like clam on pizza, so I’ll review the tomato pie. Didn’t match up to Sally’s for me, but still a great pizza. That said - I didn’t notice a drop-off between the original location and their other branches. While this makes this location less special for me (less scarce), it’s great that I can get the same quality without trekking two hours to New Haven.

Nice char underneath so it's got a nice crunch. Sauce is good. Overall a very good slice.

Rookie score. Incredible flavor, but crust was a little soggy I think from the added weight of the ricotta and meatballs. If a little more well done, would have been an elite score.

Picture doesn’t look good but pie was OUTSTANDING. Perfect char on the crust, sauce had a lot of pop to it. Loved the garlic in the sauce. Ordered half cherry peppers and pepperoni and half cheese. Loved it.

Frank Pepe’s has been slinging tomato pies in New Haven since 1925 and you can taste that old world, classic pizza flavor in every bite. Their old school coal-fired ovens produce some of finest thin and crispy pies, with the most perfectly charred crust that you’ll ever see. Their ingredients are simple, yet outstanding: flavorfully sweet crushed Italian tomatoes, creamy fresh mozzarella, finely grated pecorino Romano cheese, and a dash of olive oil & garlic all baked into a beautifully thin dough and crisped to perfection. There’s a reason many consider New Haven to be one of the top spots for classic, deliciously crispy pizza and Pepe’s is one of the best.

I used to like Pepe's. Not the same anymore. Been there 2 times in the past month. Waterbury and New Haven. Pizza is lacking. Both places it was too thick. Should be thinner, crust darker from the fire, less sauce. Last time I went to Sally's it was a 9.6. This pizza gets a 6.9. Actually mad I went there.

First time getting pizza in New Haven did not disappoint. Pepe’s tastes like every expectation you have for old town world class pizza. Thin and crispy with perfect cheese to sauce ratio. We got their famous white clam(good but a lil fishy) and a plain which was probably the best pizza I’ve ever consumed!

Excellent pizza! I believe the tomato pie half was just as good or better than the cheese half. Nice & crispy from the deep charcoal oven with a thin crust.
