Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana

Crust is burnt, but somehow not very crispy. Was expecting a lot more flavor. Decent slice, but not up to the hype.

Not quite on Sally’s level but still a very solid pie

CONSUMED Deserves portnoys 8.5, absolutely fantastic bread with a nice char, great sauce with nice tasting tomatos, cheese was really good and melted fully as well. Only issue was it’s a bit floppy

This is a special pie. Everything about it was just excellent. Crisp,char, and crunch were amazing. Sauce and cheese right on as well. I can see why this place has been open since 1925 I’d very easily take the drive from NY any given weekend.

Pepe’s is a 9.4. No questions asked.

PizzaMoon stop #4. Just left Sally’s Apizza and headed to Frank Pepe and these are completely different pies, same char but different flavor. I give this a 7.9 as my wife enjoyed it more due to the golden brown crisp crust as she gave it 8.4 with an average of 8.2.

great pizza, different from sally’s. sally’s sauce is much better imo. is also a little thicker than sally’s but the undercarriage is more firm. honestly, pizza got better as i ate more and more. 8.4 also not a bad score. great pizza

Decent pie, could use more cheese. Nice char as well

Ok, it really doesn’t get any better than this. Crispy crust, no grease, undercarriage is on point and d you can tell that the ingredients are top notch. Can’t imagine what more you want from a pizza.

Sally’s line was insane, and we were seated here immediately. For our first time in New Haven, it wasn’t quite as amazing as I had imagined in my head but still very good. Sauce was tasty and it was cool to see the char on my fingers.
