Call it nostalgia or bias—I’m a Westchester homer through and through—but Frankie’s Pizza is the kinda joint that’s synonymous with a whole city (or census designated place if you wanna get technical about Westchester). For over 66 years at the time of my writing this review, Frankie’s has been dishing out some of the best pizza in town. My parents aren’t even 66. That’s just a long damn time to be this good at anything, and man are they good at what they do. Frankie’s serves up Roman-style squares that might cause the uninitiated to pause upon first glance, but there’s nothing like the experience of eating a Frankie’s pizza. Pies are served as thick crust squares which are reminiscent of a nice airy and crunchy focaccia bread. Sauce is flavorful without being overbearing. And the cheese they use is just fantastic. And let’s not forget the dash of parmesan they top each slice with. Everything works really well together to create a unique and comforting pie. It’s really in a class of its own, which is why I am putting it ahead of Magic City Pizza (which I’ve noted is my favorite New York style in Miami so far). If you’re ever on Bird Road, drop in and grab a slice. Just not on Mondays—they’re closed.
