I’ve had some great and I’ve also had some poor buff chick pies in my day, but this did not disappoint. My brother has recommended this place, claiming to have the best buff chick there is, for quite some time and it was well worth the stop.
On this rare occasion, the chicken had a distinctive flavor that wasn’t drowned out by any of the other ingredients. Rarely can you find a buff chick pie where the chicken feels real. There was a good buffalo to pie ratio and an EXCELLENT bleu cheese to pie ratio. Couldn’t have been better. My only wish was that this pie was a little more crispy. That would’ve boosted it into AT LEAST the 8.8-9 range. The dough and crust was really soft and flavorful, but had minimal crunch and structure. At times it felt like it was just... there, like a filler. A little too big and soft for me, but it was incredible how the pie maintained no-flop on each slice considering how heavy it was. This buff chick sits in my top 3 easy, and could very well have a chance to take home the crown through a blind taste test.
I wish I could say the same about the plain pie. As per a valid review, I had to get a taste of the control. The regular pie gave off little league baseball party vibes. A type of pie you would want to order 15 of for a team party. Really floppy and sloppy with cheese falling everywhere. The same thick dough with a minute crust crunch, a strong cheese flavor, and a good amount of grease. The perfect average pie some would say.
Good eats at this place. Authentic Italian gig for sure. Great staff.
