Established in 1982, doesn’t sound like that long ago, but that’s 40 years in the pizza biz! This is a very traditional round pie, a straight fastball down the pipe. The dough is very tasty with a wonderful hint of garlic flavor and a deep-fried, almost zeppole-like consistency, supported by a firm undercarriage, leading to exceptionally crispy, crunchy & delicious crust, the shining star of the pizza. Unfortunately, there is just way too much grease drowning out the other ingredients, creating an orange pool in the middle of the pie, gushing and cascading off each slice. Aside from watering down the sauce, it really swallows up a lot of the flavor. The sauce needs some extra spices to really push through to avoid being neutralized by the heavy oil. The cheese is fairly standard, harboring most of the grease, but melds well with the dough and really gives this pie a true pizza flavor. All of the ingredients are very good, just derailed by the obnoxious oil flow. Overall, this is a solid neighborhood pizza with a legit shot at scoring in the low 8s if they can control the grease and pump the flavor of the sauce up to match the deliciousness of the dough & crust.
