This tomato pie looked better than it actually was. The sauce wasn’t sweet enough, the dough was pretty tough, and there was too much cheese. That said, I’d still take it over most New York pies.

I found this place after going to the two, what I would call overrated, local pizza places. De Lorenzos and Papa’s. Both of those places don’t do slices, only whole pies, which I find to be pretentious and not of the people. Then I came to Genaro’s and they did have single slices, but they had a $10 minimum on credit cards, and I don’t mean you would get a fee if it was under that I meant they wouldn’t even process the charge unless the total bill came out to $10 which I find to be absolutely ridiculous and again, not of the people. That being said, this pizza was absolutely awesome. I almost wanted to give it a bad review because of the credit card thing but the real Pizza lover in me just can’t. This place is on the money and worth checking out. The real highlight was the sauce which was absolutely incredible and plenty.

Great looking slice. Taste doesn’t quite measure up. Crust had a mildly funky smell/taste and cheese flavor overpowered the sauce. Good enough to eat though, for sure!

Trenton tomato pie joints, particularly the ones with the highest pedigree, are horrendously overrated. They all stink. By some miracle, maybe this won’t stink. Shocking. Sauce is outright special. A bit too much cheese so a slightly undesirable ratio for tomato pie that ideally minimizes cheese a bit. Does not however hurt the experience. Great overall execution. Taste of cheese and dough average. Into the eights were the other ingredients spectacular. Overall taste is well above average with this slightly sweet sauce. Sandy Koufax, gods gift to pitching and known pizza connoisseur once said, “Nuance is what makes some pitchers special. It’s the ability to use both sides of the plate, change the batters eye level and do the unexpected that gets batters back in the dugout.” This pie, my friends, has that nuance, and like Sandy’s often unexpected next pitch, this pizza joint is an unexpected gem.

Pizza is well done cooked. The crust is over cooked a little. Not to my liking. Overall this pizza is great. This my first time eating from here and I’m not disappointed.

This score was a cooperative effort with the help of my daughter who proclaimed the best part was “the sauce”. Frankly, it’s just a quality New Jersey tomato pie.

Their tomato pie has a nice tang. However, it had too much flop and not enough crisp for me to score any higher. I would have tomato pie from here again though and definitely up my score if it is made more well done.

Great sauce. A bit floppy in the center but the outside crust had great crisp.

Solid pizza that holds its own with the big dogs nearby. Still a cut below those, but this area is the pizza capital of N.J. after all. Definitely worth trying.

Great sauce, some flop, good crunch, solid pizza overall

A pretty good football slice. Thin and crispy at the back end, but a little too much flop in the front. I think i would have liked it more with the tomato sauce underneath the cheese, but i understand that Gennaro's is just trying to keep up with the local gimmick. Overall, I'd slap my nuts with this slice.

Wonderful tomato pie. Great tomato flavor.I like the Jersey Flop, so take it for what it’s worth.
