Came in on a Friday at 9pm. Looked on the app. Heard it’s a supposed to be good here. I wasn’t disappointed.
Now the plain slice is $3.25, that’s the creeping up there. I was almost out $10 just for these two slices. The other slice is a upside down Sicilian.
Anyway, cheese slice was medium thin. Not an airy crust or cornicione but not densely either. I like that, even though I prefer thinner. Nearly well done on the crust with charring on the bottom. Holds up well, not floppy.
Cheese, I don’t know what they use but it’s good. Obviously low moisture mozzarella. Bit greasy not much though. Got a bit of sharpness to it. Can’t detect parmigiana reggiano on it. It probably doesn’t. But the cheese had a good funk to it like it does.
Sauce? You’ll like this if you like big oregano flavor on a quintessential NY slice, I do. Not a chunky sauce but a
thicker sauce that’s got that tangy/umami tomato paste flavor to it. Though would like more sauce on it.
Good NY style slice: 7.4
Bonus review: The Upside Down Sicilian that this place is known for.
I prefer a round slice. But had to get this. It’s got basil, vodka sauce, parmigiana reggiano (I saw the rind near the shredder), the fluffy middle and crunchy/charred crust, looked like fresh mozzarella even underneath the sauce, probably not but it was good quality cheese either way.
*That* on top of a regular slice would be excellent. Anyway, this slice is a 7.8.
