Their logo says they’ve been around since 1974, serving the Greenwich, CT area out of Riverside Plaza for close to 50 years. Appears to be a typical, run-of-the-mill, somewhat thinnish, regular football pizza; so my expectations were fairly low. Also looks like a NYC dollar slice pie; but thankfully tastes much better. The dough is mostly soft, in need of some serious crisping, but also has a really nice taste, despite minimal char or crunch from the crust. The cheese looks pretty basic, like kid’s birthday party pizza cheese; however, it’s a surprisingly creamy & melty shredded mozzarella blend, with a lava-like gooey flow & very good flavor. Definitely plays better than generic pizza cheese, despite hoarding a somewhat significant but relatively common amount of grease, typical for standard football pizza. The savior of this pie is the sensational sauce, singing with sweetness, sugary & saccharine, with terrific tomato taste, bursting with flavor. Tangy & zesty with substantial punch & pizzazz, the sauce carries this pizza, elevating the score into the 7s. Overall, this is reasonably solid strip mall football plaza pizza with excellent flavor from the sauce, terrific texture from the cheese & a crispier dough would bolster the rating into the high 7s, pushing 8s. As it stands, all of these ingredients add up to quality deliciousness for a no-frills, nothing fancy, traditionally tasty pie.
