Joey's Pizza

We were enjoying a glass of wine in a bar in Downingtown, when we struck up a conversation with a couple. He and I, as we found out our big fans of Dave Portnoy, and he said you have to try Joey’s of Thorndale. This is legit New Haven-style pizza, and I wish I didn’t live 40 miles away. However, I will be making road trips to get this again and again as it’s amazing!!!

Such a hidden gem! Pizza and cheesesteaks can both easily hang with any of the so called “big boys”

It had more flop than expected for as charred as it was. They definitely let it sit in the box for way too long while they were making our cheesesteaks. The pie did have a decent undercarriage. Good, but not as good as Pomodoro or Lione’s IMO. Still a solid 7.4

Excellent thin and crispy pizza. No flop, perfect ratio of cheese sauce and better crisp than anyone in the area. The cheesesteaks are also very good.

My kinda pizza! Thin with a great crunch and chew and they’re using great ingredients. The sandwiches are just as good too!

There is something so special about this pizza. This is what makes Pizza West Chester so special but this is the sit down experience. I could eat this everyday and never get tired of it. Short of Angelo’s in the city there isn’t much else that trumps this pizza. Can’t wait to come back

Happy National pizza day!!! And my god what another sexy pie. Joeys pizza owned by the same guys as pizza west Chester fires out an insanely good pie almost, almost identical to the other spot. Great crispy first bite all the way through the light airy charred crust with leoparding all over. The sauce is plentiful and tangy great compliment to the blends of cheese that steal the show. The pie is cooked with a fresh mozz and shredded blend of what seems like a low moisture mozz and after it’s taken out sizzling hot, it’s then coated heavily with granna padana that adds the perfect zing!!! Perfect ratio of all ingredients each complimenting the other, very fresh and great people too in a nice spot in an area not really known for killer pizza but again this like pizza west Chester should be in the argument for best in state. Couldn’t think of a better place to be today!!!

Few reasons to love Joey’s - great people, great pizza, and seems unusual but pizza of this caliber around Philly is take-out (mostly). Eating Joey’s in their shop before the pizza box killer elevates this above others. My new favorite pizza!

Seriously incredible pizza. It’s so hard to find a pizza in Chester county that stands out in a positive way. Joey’s does just that. Great flavor, great cook. Highly recommend!

Good taste. Labor intensive crust almost pretzel hard. Not my fav, but good.

This pizza is delicious. This picture is after a 15 delivery in cardboard so it’s effected slightly. Not to the fault of the pizzeria. No flop, not too greasy, got the medium size. Not cheap, but good pizza won’t be. Btw cheesesteak is a 9.1

Good pizza. Really good.

Regular pie has exceptional crust and cheese. Sauce a bit plain. Ratio solid. Overall execution excellent. A tad oily. Clearly multiple types of cheese. Taste just a bit plain for my taste. 7.4 Margherita bonus- holy smokes. Really special. 8.4 all day. Killer. This place is stone cold legit. First decent slices I’ve had in ages.

A Joey’s pie a day keeps the haters away.
