Established in 1990, it’s not as old school as the pizzerias you’ll find in New Haven, but the style is very similar. Upon first bite, I noticed 2 things: the pizza tasted salty and burnt. A nice char can provide a wonderfully smokey flavor, but burnt dough is practically inedible. For such a well done pie, it’s not very crispy at all, except for the crust which is also borderline burnt. The saltiness comes from the heavy grease that invades the cheese & sauce. The cheese is standardly generic and oily. Unfortunately the salty & oily taste renders the flavor of the sauce virtually undetectable. Maybe I got a bad pie that was left in the oven too long, but this joint is too far to try again. I could have gone lower with the score, but I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. Based on my experience, I can’t recommend; stick to New Haven pizza if you venture out this way.
