Drove 25mins for a greasy soft thin crust pizza. Disappointed...

My dad’s friend hyped this place up, and my family and I were seriously disappointed. The pizza was soggy, and lacked any real flavor. The garlic we ordered was placed on very haphazardly, and wasn’t cooked in to the pizza. I fail to see why this place gets any business. We are the pizza in a park a mile away because of a dog, so the pizza should have been pretty fresh.

Pretty great. Perfect thin crust with no flop and great char. Good sauce / cheese ratio with the sweet flavor of the cheese being the best part.

Amazing plain 8.3.....Sausage, mushroom, and onion 7.3-A little too much on a very thin pizza

Been looking forward to trying for some time. Frankly the Best Bar pie I ever tasted. Thin, crispy, great sauce to cheese ratio, zero flop. Amazing pizza. I wished it was my local place I could eat this all the time.

Thinny thin. Fra Diovolo for some more zing. Kinda greasy tbh, but still a solid pie.

Beats all the CT bar pies for me even though is much less crispy throughout. The sauce is very light and flavorful. Amazing crunch around the perimeter. Two adults and a baby knocked down 2 pies in less than 5 minutes …

Toasty and delicious. Fra diavlo pie is the way to go. Ambiance is festive and charming.

I had to drive into New Jersey today I heard there’s a top ranked bar pie outside Mahwah to be found at Kinchley’s Tavern. Was curious to see how it compares to the CT bar pies I’ve tried and it’s absolutely on the level. Good amount of sauce in here, I was impressed and pleased with the taste and quality on this large size tavern pie. Half cheese/half garlic, 8.6 is the score

Good Bar Pizza. Crust was charred and crunchy. Cheese and sauce where both good. Overall good but not great.

This famous bar pie is a good local tryout. Cooked with a light crunch and a tangy sauce. Ratio all around could be better but overall worth a trip.

Portnoy was off the mark on this one. Thin, crispy, light, with a quality stand-out cheese. Healthy under carriage and a subtle yet satisfying sauce. Really no downsides. Beasted this pie with my dad. Since 1937, a great institution.

Very cool atmosphere, very old school... thin crust , I describe as a cracker, great taste, sauce on the sweet side, good sauce to cheese ratio, one of the best thin crust pizza’s around. I think this boarder line travel pizza , so I am thinking somewhere between a 7.9-8.1, but I am going with...

Awesome pizza, especially the cheese. Great atmosphere inside too.

Kinchley’s has been making ultra thin crust style bar pies with a recipe that has been in their family for over 70 years. Even their “large” pies are smallish, personal size and oddly sliced unevenly. This tastes exactly like a Mama Celeste frozen pie if it was made fresh. The dough is tasty but too floppy for a bar pie, needs some crisping. However, the crust is super crunchy, perfectly crispy and delicious. A little too much oil atop the pie, needs some dabbing. It’s surprisingly saucy considering there’s really no where to hide it; but the sauce has a nice taste and quality kick providing flavor that conquers the flow of the grease. The cheese isn’t tight like a typical bar pie; it’s pretty oozy & generic and might be the main reason this pizza tastes like Mama Celeste. Overall, it’s an incredibly solid pie but needs to be cooked a little more well done. Worth a try if you’re in a half hour radius but I wouldn’t travel too far for it. There are several better bar pies in NJ; but this looks like a great place to grab some beers and watch a game.
