Pizza Review
Kinchley’s has been making ultra thin crust style bar pies with a recipe that has been in their family for over 70 years. Even their “large” pies are smallish, personal size and oddly sliced unevenly. This tastes exactly like a Mama Celeste frozen pie if it was made fresh. The dough is tasty but too floppy for a bar pie, needs some crisping. However, the crust is super crunchy, perfectly crispy and delicious. A little too much oil atop the pie, needs some dabbing. It’s surprisingly saucy considering there’s really no where to hide it; but the sauce has a nice taste and quality kick providing flavor that conquers the flow of the grease. The cheese isn’t tight like a typical bar pie; it’s pretty oozy & generic and might be the main reason this pizza tastes like Mama Celeste. Overall, it’s an incredibly solid pie but needs to be cooked a little more well done. Worth a try if you’re in a half hour radius but I wouldn’t travel too far for it. There are several better bar pies in NJ; but this looks like a great place to grab some beers and watch a game.
