Bucking the trend of coal-fired Brooklyn pizza, La Villa proudly offers wood-fired pies. It’s a very nice looking pizza and I expected the taste to match. Unfortunately, it’s not crispy at all. In fact, it’s some of the softest pizza I’ve ever had. That being said, the ingredients are very solid. I like the taste and consistency of the melted cheese. The sauce is fairly light and tasty. The crust has that charred taste but just lacks the crispness you’d expect to go along with it. I’d say ask for it well done but I think they will just burn it more and not necessarily increase the crispness, but it’s worth a try.

More people need to know about this pizza. This place seems to fly under the radar but their pizza is the real deal. Crust + sauce + cheese remind me of John’s of Bleecker. Another review on here claims that the crust was too soft, but I have a feeling they left it in the box too long. My pie had an amazing light charred crisp. I know 8.6 is a high score, but it feels very fair. This pizza reminded me of some of the greats.

Disappointed in wood fired pizza, not much different in flavor from regular pizza ovens. Ordered with prosciutto and they just layed slices on top of pizza, bad presentation, lazy. Sauce was best part, cheese and crust okay. Def not worth $40.00 price tag for this pie.

Pretty good pizza. Very inconsistent with the cheese. Either too much or too little in each bite.

Definitely better than it looks. The cheese is really good. Sauce and crust weren’t overwhelming, but were solid. This isn’t the kind of pizza I’d go out of my way for, but wouldn’t mind if I was in the area.

Great display, crust chars beautifully and tastes great, sauce is light and sweet, but the cheese is inconsistent and can be too heavy to digest. 5 on the cheese, 8 on the sauce, 9 on the crust.
