Pizza Review
Pizza Review
I came across Local Pie by complete accident a few weeks ago when I was looking at nearby sushi places in the Kendall area and came across Inari right next door. Saw LP and told myself I’d come back to the hidden little strip of restaurants seemingly nestled away in what I thought was a gated community. Gonna go ahead and preface my score by noting that I called to order the pizza and was told it would take 30-40 minutes. Fair enough. I got there within 20 minutes and went in at the 30 minute Mark only to find my pizza was already made and was sitting inside the box in a corner of the room for who knows how long. I say that because, well, even as I first opened the box, the pizza was warm at best. Now, of course you don’t want a piping hot pizza either—no one is trying to burn the roof of their mouths here—but I felt the integrity of the pizza took a hit sitting inside the box however long it sat there. It was notably floppy though the undercarriage seemed to suggest it may once have been firmer, and crispier. I’m a big fan of the bubbles and the sort of minimalist crust game it has going. Some herbage or maybe pepper shenanigans going on on top of the cheese, which added some kick to certain slices, but not all. It kept things interesting as I ate my way through three slices of the classic cheese. I found the sauce kind of lacking, and coupled with the aforementioned compromised integrity from sitting in a box, I find it hard to go up to the 8s this time around, but I have every intention of coming back and giving this place another try with some friends. It’s really good pizza—better than most of the stuff you’ll get around Kendall, that’s for sure.
