Pizza Review
🌴BEST IN FLORIDA ALERT🌴 The sexy South Beach sister restaurant to the original Brooklyn Lucali location, Miami’s version matches the energy & ambiance of the BK joint and comes damn close to replicating their pizza. They must be getting the NYC water flown in or the dough is made in BK, cause this is incredibly close to the original Lucali style and taste. True to form, this is like a thin-crust bar pie style meets traditional circular football pizza with extra pizzazz. The dough is thinnish, firm, full of flavor, crispier near the outrageously crunchy cracker-like crust. The sauce is a symphony of sweetness & spices, as the puréed tomatoes sing with flavor bursts, accompanied by the fresh basil enhancing the strength of the sauce with each bite. The cheese is a blend unlike anything on the planet. A sharp, biting, delectable, tight combination of mozzarella, Parmesan, and some other surprises that creat pure magic. The grated parm or pecorino Romano underneath prevents moisture buildup and adds a slightly salty taste. The sauce to cheese ration is pizza perfection; you can really taste the freshness and quality of the ingredients. The char around the crust is as close as you can come to capturing the flavor and essence without burning the pie. If there’s any complaint at all, the crust is a tad too large; I’d prefer a thinner crust to allow for more cheese and sauce. Other than that, this is ridiculously close to the real thing served in Brooklyn, just a small tick below on the scoring scale. But this is easily the best pizza in Miami and most likely all of Florida.
