Fairly standard, dime-a-dozen, South Jersey football pizza, the dough isn’t especially crispy or crunchy, despite being firm with moderate char. Mostly generic-tasting, the dough is soft with a tearing texture that pulls when you bite, surrounded by a minimally crisped dull & bland crust. The cheese is a basic shredded mozzarella blend, cratered on the surface, lacking creaminess & consistency with plenty of grease. The excess oil creates a saltiness affecting the taste of the cheese & slightly intruding on the flavor of the sauce. Not particularly sweet or spicy, the sauce is an odd combo of bitter & subdued. Crushed tomato peels provide a certain level of heartiness; but without a decent amount of sweetness, the sauce is very run-of-the-mill. Without any particular ingredient dazzling, there isn’t much to work with here. While there is plenty of room for improvement, I don’t see much potential to surpass a score in the low 7s. This is about what you’d expect from a sub-standard football pie in the South Jersey pizza wasteland.
