Very good but they burnt the crust

Just very basic pizza. Kind of doughy. Kind of bland. Kind of sucked. I tell you though it’s better than the veal parm wedge i ate. Tasted like pure chemicals. I would have given that a 3.2 if that existed. Definitely not a destination spot.

Established in 1970, any pizzeria that’s been in business for over 50 years must be doing something right. A lot closer to a New York style pizza than New Haven style. Upon first glance, it looks like this might be a greasy pie but there’s honestly no drip, very manageable oil. Fairly thin, terrifically firm undercarriage with a deliciously crispy crust. The cheese to sauce ratio is excellent, compliments the thin dough perfectly. The sauce is tangy, zesty, incredibly smooth mix of tomato and spice. The cheese is rather light and little more generic than the sauce but fits the pie nicely. This is an extremely well balanced pizza in both taste and ingredients. Easily one of the better pies in Stamford, CT and worth traveling over a half hour for.

Since 1970. Basically right across the street from Sorrento Pizzeria (1989), which I loved. And the vibe of Mario the Baker is old school, it’s a sit down restaurant and even buffet place on Sunday’s. Suggested you tip a bit even when you eat in for just a slice. Mini cannoli $1. On to the pizza…it’s pretty good. Main complaint I had was with the soupy/greasiness of the cheese. Other than that, crust was well done, thin, perfectly balanced between crunchy and airy, end crust was small, which I like. Sauce was tangy not sweet. Not pasty or chunky but not loose of light. I also had Bronx House and T’s and this was better than either. I don’t like bar pie or Greek, so I'm probably not going to Hope Pizza, Colony, or Riko’s. I like the variety of pizza in Stamford But I feel it should have New Haven style pizza because Greek, Bar Pie, and Specialty Pie joints seem to be the most interesting places, then you got your pick of which NY style places you think are the best. Can't wait for Sally's to open here.

Great pizza. Super thin crust with a nice crunch. Little flop, and oily on top, but solid sauce and cheese. Very well done

Little greasy but pizza stays together. Really good, crispy but also chewy. Best of both worlds.
