Asked waiter if he knew "Dave Portnoy's Reviews". He did and served me a personal pie, thin & crusty with char. I found the first pizza on Long Island, particularly in the Hamptons that I truly believe meets Portnoy's standards worthy of an 8+ rating. On my second trip, I ordered a large pie (see photo) . I spoke directly to the pizza chef who has perfected his "Portnoy" style pizza and was truly passionate about his pizza craft.
I give Mary's "Portnoy" style an 8.7 rating! For comparison, I have been to Dave Portnoy 's favorite - John's of Bleeker Street twice: I was disappointed the first time and went back for a second time and found John's to be only above average! Dave Portnoy needs to review Mary's the next trip to the Hamptons/Montauk, because he has previously stated that Long Island lacks great pizza stores. I previously agreed, but Dave hasn't been to Mary's... yet!
